Top Ten Free iPhone Applications

In the past year or so I’ve made two major purchases. One of these purchases was my new gaming rig which is used everyday when I’m at home. The other purchase was my iPhone which I use everyother place I go whether it be in a long car ride…..or in the back of Trigonometry when our teacher is talking about ‘God knows what’. The point being that I have scoured near every popular free app there is and that is how I make my mark with these, my top 10 free iPhone apps.

Remote10. Remote- This application created by Apple was created to allow an iPhone owner to sync their iPhone with their iTunes library. I find myself using this when I lie in bed not wanting to get up and turn on some tunes from my computer that’ll liven me up and begin the day. Although it is number 10, it is still a good app.

Pandora9. Pandora Radio- For those of you who don’t know, Pandora Radio is an online music genome. Meaning that the site owns hundreds of music licenses that allow you the user to pick the style of music you want to hear and the website searching through it’s many databases to acquire you the perfect play list. I strongly recommend this app for long trips so you don’t find yourself searching through staticy stations every 30 miles down the road. For use of this application without wifi I recommend you have the 3G iPhone as the regular iphone’s Edge network is limited to how fast it can receive data leaving awkward buffering silences in the middle of the solo for “Don’t Stop Believing”.

Mazefinger8. MazeFinger- MazeFinger is a touch based puzzle game by ngmoco. In this game you find yourself rushing your finger through a maze to a goal along a path with obstacles and boost’s along the way. This free application has 1000 puzzles which could last you nearly forever to try and get the best rank on each individual puzzle. This app is also one of the most polished free app the store has to offer. The music is a delightful sort of trance and sound effects are clear and crisp.

tap-defense7. TapDefense- TapDefense is a strategy game where the player sets up archery towers, magical towers, and cannons around a path to prevent Satan and all his minions from entering God’s domain. For those of you have played and like PixelJunk Monsters, this game was made for you. What makes this game great is it’s sheer limitless opportunities in different ways you can play it.

jelly-car6. Jelly Car- Jelly Car is one of the more advanced iPhone games in that it not only uses touch and tilt in there main game play but also in the physics engine made specifically for JellyCar. JellyCar is a obstacle course puzzle game in which you can control the speed and tilt 0f the car. The level design in JellyCar is flawless allowing the novices to play through easy levels and learning about the game, while also challenging experienced players with their tough end levels. Jelly Car is a unique game unlike any I’ve ever seen. The game is fun and original and always good to come back to to play another level or two.

facebook5. Facebook/Myspace- Facebook and Myspace are the two mainstream social networking sites that are currently in app form on the iPhone. These applications give you all the liberties and options that you could find from your browser based websites. Being able to check your comments and updating your status has never been more convienient than with these free apps.

papi4. PapiJump- PapiJump is the main seller of the 5 or so great Papi game’s that the Sunflat company has released for the iPhone. PapiJump is the definition of a platformer, you jump up the screen from platform to platform using the tilt sensors to move Mr. Papi. The game is appealing in the high scores striving to get better and better and move up the ranks. This free app was so appealing to me that I actually purchased the 1 dollar edition for the extra modes.

tap-tap3. Tap Tap Revenge- Tap Tap is a music based game which succeeded on the iPhone as Guitar Hero did on the PlayStation. Mixes of rock, techno, and house music are just a few examples of preloaded music in the main download of the game. The game has absolutely no button lag which makes it an outstanding music game against it’s competition. This application is a must have for any lover of music, and since you have an iPhone you probobly are that person.

labyrinth2. Labyrinth/Marble Mash- These 2 apps are probobly the most appealing to anyone who doesn’t have an iPhone. They are frequent selling point in the iPhone commercial because they are simply unbeatable meaning no other phone currently has the capabilities for running this tilt program. The game is remarkably polished and smooth. It’s hard to blame the game for lag or motion detect issue as it is quite flawless. Labyrinth is the earlier more prominent version using this engine and it has 20 levels leaving more addiction to be had. However Marble Mash, the game by Jirbo, has over 1000 levels which is sensational for a free application.

trace1. Trace- Trace is a magnificant spectacle, a diamond in a sea of rubies if you will. Trace was a game passed up by many for it’s simplistic chalk board art style. However, those who passed it up are missing something truely unique and great in the gameplay. The game is a simple ‘Get from point A to B’. However what makes it interesting is that you create the path your character must take via the touch controls. Many obstacles loom throughout the games 120 levels but none of them seem drastic or repetative. This game is sutiable for any type of gamer whether you enjoy action or creativity and that ultimately earned it the number one spot on this list.

Nice review. There are a bunch of apps and it is always great to know which ones are best besides trying every single one of them out which can be boring and time consuming. Thanks man.
