Facebook Support? What Support?

facebook_logo2As some of you may know, I still run on dial-up. Recently, Facebook switched to their new GUI and added features and “cleaned it up”. However, with the switch came many bugs that aren’t seeming to be addressed no matter how many emails I send their support staff.

First of all, I can’t even login anymore. Basically when I type in my username and pass it doesn’t load and process the attempt. This instantly told me it was a server-side script issue and nothing to do with my internet or computer. Nonetheless, I went ahead and attempted the following steps:

1) Different Browsers (Opera, IE, Firefox, Chorme, Safari)
2) Different Pages (facebook.com, facebook.com/login.php, https://www.facebook.com, https://www.facebook.com/login.php)
3) Restarting
4) Clearing Cache, Temp Files, Cookies and whatnot
5) Resetting connection (Didn’t think this would have anything to do, but covered a base)
6) Different computer w/ different connection (T1)

Everything on that list failed to fix my problem. After attempting to fix the problem myself, I decided to throw Facebook a quick email outlining my problem. Although it would be pointless to put the email on here for length reasons, I will say that I included a similar list from above with a few other glitches I found throughout the website.

A couple days go by while I wait to be emailed back on my problem. Finally an email comes saying that from their records there is no problem and then ended the email with “If this answer didn’t help you, try sending another email so that we may help you further”. After recieving this, I turn around and tell them there IS a problem and that their records are wrong and I request further assisstance. I sent this email roughly a month ago and I have yet to get a return email giving me further information.

After these exchanges between Facebook staff, it has led me to believe they just don’t care enough to fix issues on a 1-1 basis. It is especially true when the issue is something like logging into the site. If there is a bug like this, something should be done regardless the amount of people are experiencing and reporting the issue.

=P All bigger websites are like this.

    It’s so impersonal.

I’d recommend sending them another email, and if that doesn’t work I’d recommend calling them up. Call them on a daily basis until they fix your problem. I’ve heard of people doing that as it eventually makes the people think “okay… I’d rather just give this person what he wants rather than having to deal with his crap everyday. He’s just flooding the hotline.”

Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t. ~crosses fingers~

I DID send them another email. Besides, I have attempted calling them and was put on hold for 20 minutes, so I just hung up and gave up because they aren’t worth my time.
