Facebook Support? What Support?

by Taylor Flatt on May 7th, 2009 at 6:42 pm EDT - 477 views

facebook_logo2As some of you may know, I still run on dial-up. Recently, Facebook switched to their new GUI and added features and “cleaned it up”. However, with the switch came many bugs that aren’t seeming to be addressed no matter how many emails I send their support staff.

First of all, I can’t even login anymore. Basically when I type in my username and pass it doesn’t load and process the attempt. This instantly told me it was a server-side script issue and nothing to do with my internet or computer. Nonetheless, I went ahead and attempted the following steps:

Facebook Slams Burger King App

by Taylor Flatt on January 17th, 2009 at 12:44 pm EDT - 2,741 views

As I’m sure you all remember, Burger King came out with a new app where you drop friends for free whoppers. However, when Facebook got wind of this, they released this official statement saying it breaches user privacy,

We encourage creativity from developers and brands using Facebook Platform, but we also must ensure that applications follow users’ expectations of privacy. This application facilitated activity that ran counter to user privacy by notifying people when a user removes a friend. We have reached out to the developer with suggested solutions. In the meantime, we are taking the necessary steps to assure the trust users have established on Facebook is maintained.

This is nothing really surprising to be honest. The app had bad publicity written all over it. Frankly, I’m surprised Facebook didn’t do anything about it before this point in time. It seems that BK and FB will have some negotiations to undertake but I believe it will end in only one way. It will end by BK being forced to simply remove the app.

I, for one, think the whole thing is hilarious. I mean, what better way can you defriend someone than by telling them their are worth 1/10th of a hamburger? These things in life make life worth living.

Are You Worth a Whopper?

by Taylor Flatt on January 8th, 2009 at 8:56 pm EDT - 339 views

Burger King > WhopperEarlier this week, Burger King has released an application that allows users to remove 10 friends for a free Whopper. The app is called Whopper Sacrifice and is no ordinary app. When you remove a friend, it not only removes them but alerts them and puts a message on your profile saying you did just that. They couldn’t let you get away that easily could they?

By essentially judging if your friends are worth a free hamburger, this plugin has not only powerfull effects online, but as well as offline too. With a lot of people having family and friends on their facebook, they might be their next “victim” and be rated “worth 1/10 of a hamburger”.

Burger King is basing this stretch on the new online “fad” that was said to be hot this year. The new trend is said to be that cutting Facebook friends is the in thing of ‘09. If you are interested in this new application published by BK, then visit their official website.

by Stephen Spring on December 24th, 2008 at 9:44 pm EDT - 3,364 views

In the past year or so I’ve made two major purchases. One of these purchases was my new gaming rig which is used everyday when I’m at home. The other purchase was my iPhone which I use everyother place I go whether it be in a long car ride…..or in the back of Trigonometry when our teacher is talking about ‘God knows what’. The point being that I have scoured near every popular free app there is and that is how I make my mark with these, my top 10 free iPhone apps.

Remote10. Remote- This application created by Apple was created to allow an iPhone owner to sync their iPhone with their iTunes library. I find myself using this when I lie in bed not wanting to get up and turn on some tunes from my computer that’ll liven me up and begin the day. Although it is number 10, it is still a good app.
